If you ask yourself, “Is my computer creating a better connection to your colleagues, friends, and family?” You would probably answer yes, acknowledging social networking, email, and other
applications to help to do that. However, that connection is still just between you and the screen. A recent FastCompany article “Why the Next Big Thing in Computing is Conversation” by Loren Davie opines that our modern applications have lost the idea of what is a conversation and what is the approach to creating software and interfaces that bring back that idea.
Some may argue we are redefining the definition of a conversation through technology. The struggle comes with creating tools and experiences to still capture it and shape into the “face-to-face” conversations we all have. Davie says, “By modeling these new apps and websites on conversations, the Internet will become a more dynamic, more natural, more conversational medium for humans interacting with software.” Each developer and software company is challenged to solve these issues (among the many others) when it comes to creating a good usable tool that is easy to understand.
Here at Valkre we too are attempting to achieve this goal of bringing conversation back in computing. We constantly experiment with features like User Personas, User Goals, Modal Response (as Davie lists out). Our software, Render, helps to create, expand and encourage face-to-face conversations through customer interviews and Initiatives. Whether it is organizational alignment or customer collaboration, our software is attempting to bridge to this “new generation of contextual apps.” As we continue to learn and build with each new release, we push the frontier of what a business conversation means in the digital world.
The future is often unknown, but with advances in technology and design, apps and software like Render will become more conversation based and be at the forefront of contextual apps.
