Well it's that time again! Time for another trip to the great Australian Outback, to dive into the heart of Value Propositions. I'm going to spend the next 30 days and 30 nights knocking on customers' doors, trekking across the Bush, and wrestling kangaroos'. All just so I can truly get at what my customers can do to better serve their customers. Alright, alright, there may not be any trekking through the Bush, I mean it's dangerous out there..no food for miles. But I can't promise that there wont be any kangaroo wrestling, I mean lets' leave our options open.
So, I'm sure you're all very anxious to get your hands on the details of my travels, so here goes...
Day 1: My attempt to get to Australia
Yes, Day 1 and my flight to Sydney was cancelled. 3 hour delay out of O'Hare, landed in LAX at midnight only to be greeted with, "Oh Mr. Cardinale, we are sorry about your flight, but the good news is that we have booked you on tommorrow's flight to Sydney". Just keep in mind that while I was grateful to be on the next flight, that next flight was 24 hours into the future. Anyways, she continues with, "However, I see that during your 4 hour flight from O'Hare we were also supposed to get you a hotel, but that didn't seem to print out. Can you just wait a minute"? By minute she obviously meant an hour and a half, fast forwarding me to 2am. Fine, okay, not the first time any of us have dealt with the Bermuda Triangle of time that is, and will always be, any airport. I finally slonch out of LAX around 2:30am, grumbling cranky things and take the first hotel shuttle I can find.
A little shut eye, and I was ready to do as all good Valkre's do, and keep pushing through until the good comes*. Jeff (my fellow colleague who lives in Santa Monica) saved the day! He recommended a great dinner place near the ocean in Manhattan Beach. The two pictures you see below are of a bacon and cheddar scone with maple butter, and a fried squash blossom; a dish that brings me right back to my Grandma Spinelli's Christmas Dinners.
Anyways, the food may have made the delay worth it! Thanks Jeff! Now onward to see the Aussie's! Will reach out again when I am on the other side of the world!
